Have you looked into Kaspersky? (not a pro here, just throwing it out there )

LoneWolf agrees: Anything other than Norton or McAfee unless you like bloated resource hog software.

Hello zzang and welcome.

I'm not a fan of Norton nor McAfee and have been quite safe and content with Avira's products.

If you want to spend money though I'd look at Best Free Antivirus Software Trial: Free Home, Business and Gaming Download from ESET or Anti-Virus Downloads & Free Trials - Kasperky Lab

I have been using Eset's Nod32 standalone AV app for the last three years, and it has been a excellent choice to have made. It does not have the bloat that Norton's software has either.

Eset's Smart Security is pretty good as well, but I have not tried it myself yet.

Both of these apps have a 30 day trial period as well...

Norton 360 is not bad, you can use it as firewall, and use Norton Eset as a Anti-virus application.Just have a try!!

Another NOD for Eset here - pun intended!
I'm not one to usually have AV or firewalls installed on my PC as I remain skeptical as to how effective they actually are at doing something other than reporting false positives, conflicting with other software, hogging valuable resources, or just being downright ineffective and plain unnecessary.

As far as AV engines go, Kaspersky and NOD seemed to have had the best reputation for as long as I can remember now, whereas the likes of Norton have often attracted criticism for being cumbersome and problematic in many cases. Word has it they've improved lately, though I haven't exactly been eager to install their software on my PC to find out and it remains doubtful that I ever will.

Mcafee = also a no no. I remember their security suite being quite possibly the most intrusive and frankly irritating applications I have ever seen.
