Its been several days and avg has failed to update. the reason quoted was : Connecion with update server has failed. Make sure the connection parameters are set properly. I want it to auto update like the past again..I am using windows vista and AVG v8.5.278. so how do i set the "connection parameters properly? do give me a step by step if possible thanks! by the way i am using wireless.. i dont know whats the difference between broadband proxy and dial up so i cant tell you whats mine.. so sorry..

Hello Cereine!
I experienced a similar issues with my AVG installation a while back. I uninstalled it, rebooted, and reinstalled to resolve my issue. Have you tried that?

I've never thoought of that as i thought it was some connection settings problem. I will give it a try now

i hqve things in the virus vault. should i delete it all the same along with the uninstallation of avg?

still not working n gettingthe same reason after reinstalling .. some how i am quite sure its got something to do with the connection parameters.. how and where do i configure that?

What kind of connection do you have?
What firewall are you running? Do you have any other anti-virus program installed on this computer? Also there is a report on the Internet that hints that this problem may be caused by an infected computer...you may wish to follow the Prework link in my signature if all else fails...
