Hi and welcome to PCHF!

I don't recommend having any virus' on your computer on purpose. If you want to test a file against most of the popular virus scanners, I would use VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan.

I would delete the "package" asap.

Regards,
Adam

Welcome to PCHF.

I would have to say that that kind of test would not prove much.
All AV companies know what viruses are out and how to remove them.

In my opinion, it is more a case of which GUI do I likes more.
How easy it is for me to operate.
Will the AV interfere with any of my software?
Will the AV hang up during installation?
Will the AV warn me of a new outbreak?
There are more concerns as well. Each user has their own conditions as to which AV they go with.

I hope this has helped you.

It is not a factor at all.

One of the key factors in commercial anti-virus benchmark tests is their response to new infections. I would safely bet that the malware in this "package" of yours are old. All decent (even those semi-decent) anti-virus programs will be able to detect old infections. That is why your idea of the test will not work.

My advice is to leave these sort of tests and reviews to the professionals. Don't risk your computer like that, it's not worth it.
