First of all, I want to wish all you a merry christmas!
Sadly, this xmas brought me a very bad present; recently, I was forced to made a format, so I got a huge problem because I've got an anti-virus I don't trust too much (ESET NOD32) So I'm looking for some advise to get a new one. My former anti-virus was Symantec and I think is a pretty good one, but I lost the CD with the installer so, yeah...more problems I've got.
I will thank you if you can give me some tips to get a nice anti-virus again.

Hello Lohengrin and welcome.
I can't say enough good things about AntiVir PE It has a realtime scanner, updates automatically, is very configurable for a free software, and it's not bloated like Symantec.

Symantec Internet Suite 2009 works fine for me.
Doesn't use many resources (could use even less though), comes fwith 3 systems licence and the support is good. I'd use also Kaspersky, more and more vendors use this antivirus engine. Another Very Good but not well known is the G Data suite. Was No 1 here in the Netherlands, and is the only one that uses 2 Antivirus engines (one is Kaspersky's)

Have a look at this post I made not too long ago in a Security thread. It outlines some of the more popular FREE protection software. I recommend downloading them ALL

A lot of people ask me this and this is my responce. I use the weakest Antiviral application available.
For one, I tech so I have an interest in catching viri. For another, I use an application called REGRUN. This application locks down the system so I don't have a worry about viri infections because once empty my temp files and I reboot the system, all traces are gone. I strongly suggest this program to everyone. It has a complex looking interface, but the just is simple. Set your security to LOW when ever you want to install something. Then afterwords move it back up to HIGH. When set to low the registry is open for 100% read/write and when to HIGH, it seems to only allow what you allow as it prompts the screen when ever a change has been made. I have the platinum version and it comes with a ROOTKIT stopper. I have not had an infection that I didn't want since installing this application.
