Hello,

I have accidentally downloaded a very nasty virus, WJQS which has unleashed a whole load of nasties on my system, it has taken me 5 days to get to this stage, it has disabled my antivirus although spybot changed that,however nothing seems to pick it up.

I have done a hijack this log, however after putting it through the autochec thingie on their website nothing bad was found, so i'm hoping one of you guys can help, i did not really want to use the internet however i do not have another machine, i would do a full format but there are some very important files on the computer and i have no way of saving them just now.

Hi, I have completed prework as requested by Bugsey in my now closed thread, I apologise for setting up 2 threads.

The Malwarebyte scan was clean, as is the hijackthis log, however i know my system is definitely infected. I downloaded some software, when I opened it Zonealarm alerted me WJQS virus was trying to infect my machine, however my machine then locked up and I waited 10 mins, nothing happened so had to shutdown.

When I restarted I could not get into Windows, after about 10 minutes I managed to get the Task Manager, closed down the suspicious looking processes including some extra svchost processes, this then 'semi-loaded' Windows, enough for me to delete the wjqs file, it had also disabled anti-virus using the registry which spybot picked up. Now if I leave the system 10-15 mins when I turn on Windows loads by itself, although occasionally a box pops up and the computer switches off after 1 min. I have managed to get zonealarm working again, and a number of other scans including the 2 logs I will list now (I don't think there will be much in them)

I appreciate any advice you can give.

I see no sign of malware.Its all fine.

I know what you are saying, the scans say i'm clean. However I definitely did not imagine the alert from zonealarm, the shutdown of the PC, the disabling of my anti-virus, the random starting of cd (autorun) and that my system now takes 10 minutes until Windows will even think about starting to load.

Are there no viruses that can't be seen? As I mentioned before I deleted a file named WJQS*lots of numbers*.exe after a virus what is left behind and how can i clean it up.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.This applies to XP Pro and XP Home users only.If you have SP3 installed you will need to use SP2.Do not use for Vista.

Once installed, you should get a prompt that says:

Please continue as follows:

(1) Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
(2) Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:
