Have McAfee internet security suite via AOL, which seems to be doing the job, but I didn't realize I was eventually going to be charged for it (good old AOL!), so it's time to let it go!
I've researched options, but can't find one that suits my somewhat out-of-date system, and my need for it to be free! (and is compatible with my relative inexperience!) I have WIN 2000, IE 6.0, 18GB HD, 384 RAM, and an 850 Mhz AMD Athlon processor. Any suggestions would be appreciated! (oh, and I have dial-up!)
Thanks for your help, and I'm sure I'll be talking to you later 'cuz I've read that it's hard to totally uninstall McAfee!

Ok, I did go to vnunet.com and downloaded AVG 8.0 (thanks for that, 'cuz every other site I went to was either a free trial or full price!) However, when I try to install, it says I have an outdated version of 'Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator' which contains a bug that 'bugs' AVG, and I need to update that before I continue.
When I go to Roxio's site, I'm definitely out of my territory, and have no clue what I'm looking for! And since it's a System 32 application, I'm fearful of screwing things up. I did contact Roxio's tech support, with no response. Just in case you need it, this is what I get when I 'search' for "Roxio": CDDBUIRoxio.dll Control Module v2.00.12, and CDDBControlRoxio.dll Control Core Module, same version. Appreciate whatever guidance you can give me! |

Hi,
Uninstall Roxio (if you have the disc) - then install AVG - run a full system scan - then re-install Roxio.

Hello! Unfortunately, I don't have the Roxio disc but (possible stupid question), do I even need Roxio? I don't burn CDs or watch DVDs. Or is it one of those necessary 'system' things?!
Thanks for your patience! |
