Default Codec.exe

hi all

While viewing a mpeg on media player MP prompted me that to continue i would need a new codec to view. when installed all programs freeze and i can no longer open task manager....

help me please

I know that there are "nasties" (spyware/malware/viruses)-- out there disguising themselves as codecs--it's the "latest thing :\
I suggest you run the prework from my link and post any logs in the HJT logs froum so security can have a look...

done this. it helped but now any IE window that requires a password will nbot work????
