Default norton

Can someone just tell me why this happens please?

I have Norton Internet Security on my laptop. It expires in September and then I must buy a new upgrade, but yesterday up pops a window telling me my Norton has expired, I am unprotected. So I checked out my Norton and saw that I can just reactivate my code again. So I did that and all is well, my Norton actually did not expire yet.

My question is why does this happen, if the expiry date is only in September that it shows me it has already expired if it has not. The mind boggles.

this one is for a friend

Never heard of that happening honestly, Norton's rubbish though, so it wouldn't surprise me it's just the program screwing up. He's better off running no AV then Norton IMO
