My pc got infected by a virus named ahsan.It changed my home page to its own web page from where I was asked to download an antivirus software to remove it, but after downloading it there were only picture files sayin thanks for downloading the ahsan virus.It also changed the name of my computer and web browser.How dangerous is this virus?How do I remove it?My norton antivirus has not detected it.I think it isa pakistani virus because the name of my IE has been changed to Ahsan Manan Khan Bhutta.help me.

Hey,
Never trust anything on the internet. Especially when it tells you, you have a virus not coming directly from your installed AntiVirus. And do not ever download and install "removal tools" unless its from a reputable vendor. It is almost certainly a virus you are downloading in that case as you can see.
Talking with someone in Symantec he gave me his advice.
Eventhough technically speaking this is not a real virus. You need to set the values of these registry keys to the values listed:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoFolderOptions"=dword:0000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Restrictions]
"NoBrowserOptions"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System]
DisableTskMgr to: dword:00000000 You can also try to reboot into last known good configuration or a custom restore point.
