Default McAfee

A neighbour has McAfee Security Center installed on his computer and he asked me for help. The problem is that every time he opens Outlook Express SpamKiller, which is a part of McAfee, scans all the emails. This take ages and is very annoying, it also takes lots of CPU.
When I went to configure and turned the spamfilters off SpamKiller kept scanning the emails when Outlook Express was opened.
How do I turn SpamKiller off? The options in the program itself don't work obviously. Also, when I delete the .exe from SpamKiller, McAfee brings it back through the updatemodule (what I expected). The helpfile doesn't bring me any further (also what I expected )...
How do I disable SpamKiller??????

Robin

I found a thread which describes your problem.

Not sure if you have tried what the last poster there posted.

Do keep us informed on how things go!

I would personally remove McAfee completely and load up Avast antivirus and Zone Alarm's firewall. You would free up a lot of memory and be at least as secure as you were before, but you would also have much easier to use interfaces than McAfee which to me is the most user unfriendly software around.

i would go into mcafee's "blocked content" and make sure it isnt blocking incoming or outgoing messages. if that doesnt work try redownloading mcafee and then when you start up outlook make sure you press "trust this program" when it tries to block outlook
