I have Norton Internet Security 2007 installed on my PC. I recently had my hard drive replaced (Seagate ST3160815AS) - ever since my hard drive has been replaced I have had trouble completing a full scan using NIS2007 - it will complete around 80% to 90% of the can and the completely slowdown to a crawl. It will take more than a hour or so to complete the rest of the scan.

Is it the hard drive that is the problem? I also have Spyware Doctor 5 and Threatfire installed on my PC. Are they the cause of the problem?

All of the virus scans and spyware scans I have run have come up negative.

Have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Norton?

No I havent tried to uninstall and reinstall NIS 2007. I have thought about it but will only do it as a last resort.

What is the health status of that drive?

1) Run a scandisk
2) Run a defrag
3) Run the Seagate Disk Tools

Just a couple of questions. I have downloaded the Seagate disk tool - it states under the help section that "You should close all other applications before running a hard disc diagnostic". Should I the run it in safe mode or if I run it normally should I shutdown Threatfire, Spyware Doctor and Norton Internet Security?

I also have a freeware Hard Disk Utility loaded on my PC called HD Tune. It currently states the condition of my hard drive is OK and I have attached a screenshot from the program.

One thing I haven't mentioned is that I am only having problems with the scan of Norton Internet Security 2007. I am succesfully able to perform a scan using Spyware Doctor, Adaware 2007 and Threatfire. I can even scan using a program called AVG Anti-Rootkit.
