[Answered] I desperately need help with viruses!!!
Infection is advanced...OS is xp sp2...PC will log into windows and almost instantly restart...I am trying to use Bitdefender's rescue cd to launch linux and clean hardrive...attempts are unsucessfull...Can I set this hardrive as a slave on another computer and clean it that way or will this put the primary hard drive at risk...PLEASE HELP

Hi 01electronsh, welcome to PCHF.
Putting the HDD as slave in another PC would put the master hard drive under some risk yes. It depends what you are infected with. Are you even able to enter safe mode (F8 during startup). Your last resort would be to wipe the HDD and use the recovery CD. How are you certain that this is a virus problem?

Another idea possibly, is to use a boot CD with virus cleaning tools on it...such as Bart PE or Ultimate Boot CD. That way you won't need to boot into your Windows installation.
