I personally like Comodo Firewall alot better than I did ZA. The alerts are bunched up and don't seem to pop up quite as often. The user interface is friendly and it's free which is nice.

Comodo has gotten some good ratings too... I like ZA because of the outgoing monitoring... just in case.
I'm hardware firewalled, too-- so call me paranoid LOL

Comodo also has a nice outbound monitoring system in place. Plus a nice little activty screen which shows all current ingoing and outgoing lines. I'm not that paranoid, only so much damage can be done on dial-up.

Have you used Clam portable before? It would come in handy for those instances where I need to scan a client's machine and don't really feel like hassling them with an Avast install (assuming they don't have AV software already active on the computer).

I'm on Broadband-- which is why the extras...Comodo would be my next choice to try-- if the need arose.
I have Panda Platinum on the kids' PC (also on my router)
--it's a good all-in-one without Symantec's BS-- so I don't have to resolve conflicts. Plus I keep an eye on activity-- via the router's logs... and I can block whatever I want to.
