hi,
am absolotely totally rubbish with technical problems on pcs and stuff, so hopefully some one can help me. recently ive noticed a window pop up as soon as i turn my lap top on. the windows says:
RTHDCPL.EXE
the system DLL user32.dll was relocted in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occured because the DLL C:WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor suplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.
now this means nothing to me, i cant think of anything ive done to create this problem. i typed RTHDCPL.EXE into google, and downloaded a software which picked up 42 faults, 15 it as able to fix for free, to fix the rest i had to pay. seeing as am not really sure of what am doing, i didnt want to pay!
any ideas!

Hi Angela, welcome to the PCHF

Believe it or not I saw this error at work today.
All i did was disable RTHDCPL.EXE from loading up on start.

To do this, goto Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup
Scroll down until you see RTHDCPL.EXE and uncheck it.

However, as I'm not too familiar with it, and not sure if it's a virus, I'd highly recommend you follow the Prework link in my signiture, and post the resulting logs for one of our fabulous security team to have a look at it for you

hello angela, I've seen this a lot since the latest patch for the animated cursor fix came out....if you could take a look at Certain third-party applications may not start, and you receive an error message when you start the computer: "Illegal System DLL Relocation" and see if it applies to you, that would be very helpful.....let us know what happens.....

thanks,

v
