When your cache becomes very large, your computer’s performance may be affected. In addition, Temporary Internet files may also affect VirusScan’s performance. Periodically cleaning your cache by removing Temporary Internet files can help improve performance.
Delete Cookies and Files, including the offline content. Open Internet Explorer, Go to Tools > Internet Options, Click on the Delete Cookies and Delete Files. Choose to Delete Offline content on the prompt.
Now Go to Start > Run > Type %temp% press enter. Empty the Temp folder by clicking on 'Edit' > select 'Select All' from menu on top and press Delete key from Keyboard. Say "Yes"/"Yes to all" to the prompts if any. If this folder contains some hidden file then please select the option to select "Show Hidden files & Folders".
If you have VirusScan set to scan all files, your computer may noticeably slow down. You can set VirusScan to scan program files and documents by doing the following:
1. Right-click on the McAfee icon by your system clock.
2. Click VirusScan > Options.
3. Click Advanced.
4. In the 'File Types to Scan' box, select Program files and documents only.
5. Click the OK button, then OK again.
If the issue happens while doing a send/receive for emails, perform the steps to increase time out & disable outbound scanning.
If the issue is permanent right after installation then please go ahead with following, it seems that some of the files of McAfee VirusScan are conflicting or corrupted that is why you are facing this issue. In order to fix the above issue, you need to uninstall McAfee VirusScan software from the system completely including its registry entries and after that reinstall it again.
