Default Pc is freezing for 2 - 5 secs and making a 1 - 2 sec beep - Norton ?

Hi
I have had norton internet security 2007 on my pc for about 4 weeks.
In the last 5 days though my pc has been freezing while i say surf the net or run a program and when it does freeze for that short time it makes a beep nice..
sometimes it might just do it the one and carry on.. sometimes it might freeze.. beep.. then unfreeze and do it again a number of times....

I have been told that it is a memory problem.
That maybe norton is conflicting with the computer.

Is this true ?
I have emailed them but no response yet.

what can i do.. it was doing it a lot earlier and i need this for my work... i have got nothing done today

anything i can do ?
I am running windows xp.
all has been fine since 5 days ago.. i have done a virus scan and there is no virus or anything

Welcome to PCHF richard!

By 'beep' do you mean a beep internally from the PC or out of the speakers?

Also do you get any blue screens if so - please follow the BSOD link in my signature and post the results back here.

It is possible you have a memory problem, but tbh if you ask any tech person or any member on here you will realise that Norton isnt that good.

Looking forward to your reply,

Chris

Hi
thanks for your quick reply
I have read a few posts and now wish i did not buy it. typical..

The beep is coming from inside the tower.. 2 mins ago it kept doing a 1 sec beep while freezing ( just sits there and i cant do nothing - no blue screen or anything ) ..
just.. beep....... beep. beep. beep......... beep.......... then it started working again....

could it be norton ?

It happens to a lot of people dont worry.

The beeps are signifying an error. Can you tell me the make and model of your PC or the make and model of your motherboard? (latter preffered)

Thanks,

Chris
