looked at a couple of threads started and now its near end of year (subscription) thought I would check in.
currently I have a subscription to Norton Anti Virus 2006, what I want to know is do I stay or do I go, if I go who to?
my local shop is trying to sell me AVG internet security for £50 or AV pro edition for £30. dont know what price Norton will be .
If I choose AVG is it better worse or same as Norton?
Do I still need to run or have installed Zone Alarm? or is a similar firewall included on AVG?
what about all my current settings for programme access will they all have to be re set up ?
Norton will run as is but AVG ??
Im a bit p!$$ed off with Norton as my two boys both have pc's with Norton on but subscriptions not renewed, so Trojans and MAlware got in, Ive had to format the biggest 64 bit one and suppose will have to do the smaller one next.
I have seen if you buy on line from AVG you have to pay extra for installing on more pc's, I dont want to as Im going to add a 4th pc ( the sons laptop for uni work and a 5th pc as Im starting a business in the new year.
money will be tight so I want to get away as cheap as possible.
thoughts please....

Toptenreviews did a shootout here: Anti-Virus Software Review 2007
Although Norton comes higher than AVG i think AVG is better as it is very low on resources and in my experience easier to use and finds more than Norton. You wouldnt need Zonealarm as the internet security suite includes a firewall, anti-spam, and anti-spyware. You shouldnt be running Zonealarm firewall along side Nortons either. AVG pro edition is just Antivirus so you would need a firewall and anti-spyware software. |

Hey there
.I would reccomend AVg over Norton any day But may favourite one is Avast it's free to download and use .I'm currently using it along with Avg Anti-spyware and Zone-alarm Firewall.

thanks guys, Im more concerned about freeing up some background resources as my processor runs at 100% frequently and slows or stops, causing the pop up that windows has to close and post ms about it.
may look at AVG then. will uninstalling Norton cause any conflicts? |
