I am not sure if this is the correct place to post my query, so if there are any moderators reading, please feel free to move to the appropriate section.
I have a home movie (no, not one of those!
) and wanting to share it with a number of friends, I was unable to use my traditional means of doing so, which is to use a web based file sharing service such as Yousendit.com, Sendspace.com, etc. The reason for this is that the file, at 400+ MB, was too large for their free packages to allow me to send. At the suggestion of one of the people I was intending to share with, I split the file into 5 parts using Winrar. I had no complications doing so and duly set about the monotonous task of uploading all the separate bits. By the end of the day, it was done and all that remained was to send the download links to my pals. I did this final job and went to bed.So...
Imagine my horror when I discovered that two of them said they'd received a virus - some kind of trojan horse - when they'd opened the second of the files! Having done a complete virus scan earlier in the same day and also having manually scanned the 5 video files individually, it said and STILL says 'no virus found'. I use the free edition of AVG, but I've always thought it was great, so how come I'm sending infected files to my friends when at my end everything seems fine? Should I be worried too in case there is something lurking undetected?
Any helps from you divine creatures would be greatly welcomed.
Kind regards,
Ian
