Default [Answered] Virus defintions for Norton 2003

Having not used my PC on the internet until this year, I updated my Norton Antivirus from 2003 by re-subscribing to the trial version. All has been OK until now, the virus defintions no longer download. I've tried going to their support pages (both USA and UK) to use the autofix function, but it always encounters a "problem". I'm aware older versions are sometimes no longer supported. I just feel slightly cheated that I've only re-subscribed 2 months ago (at £30), when I should've upgraded to 2007 instead.

In the meantime I've downloaded AVG which most people on PCHF tend to like, but having paid for Norton, I'm inclined to stick with it. However it keeps kicing up a fuss of course because it's defintions aren't up to date.

Any advice? I'm not having much luck at the moment...! (see my other posts!)

Here you go: Symantec Security Response - Virus Definitions Download Page

You can manually download the virus defs from here.

That's excellent, just what I needed.

Was beginning to feel a bit vulnerable without the definitions. I feel slightly cheesed off with Norton for making it just that little bit difficult for the average user, in my opinion of course. So far I've been impressed with the free trial of AVG, (although I have read running 2 anti-virus programs can slow a PC down), and will consider switching when my subscription expires.

Thanks once again.

AVG might be kicking up a fuss pagemaster because there is another Anti Virus program running.
It is definately not advisable to have more than one AV program running.
I would, in my own personal opinion, disable Norton and run AVG.
It is also my personal opinion that Norton is rubbish.

Yes i agree with all that Wolfey has said ,

I reccomend Avg or Avast, there both really good and in my opinion ALOT BETTER than Norton.

marked as answered.

I agree with Bugsey and Wolfeymole aswell, i use NOD32 however that is quite advanced, i would recommend AVG free 7.5.
