I was running Norton Antivirus 2005 quite well. My subscription came due and I upgraded to Norton 2006 via Symantec's website. I used the Norton Removal Tool before installing 2006 as suggested. I cannot install Norton 2006. I keep getting an error message that I have another version installed. I have emptied my windows temp folder, ensured evenlog is automatic and removed any Symantec or Norton items from the registry. I am at a loss. I know there is a file that must still be there, but I don't know where to look.

Welcome to PC Help Forum! We have a great team here, who will no doubt be able to assist you.

I'll seek advice from our security team, but in the meantime, can you tell me if you've tried Start > Search > Symantec or Start > Search > Norton?

You may have the files being detected elsewhere.

I have tried the search feature for Symantec and Norton both. Deleted any files I found related. I have even gone through the registry as Symantec recommended. Still have not resolved the issue. Thanks for any help.

Can you download and run Hijackthis from the link below in my sig, select "Do a system scan and save a log file", and then post the log that comes up, and also an uninstall list please:

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
