im looking for which is the best free anti virus avg or avast i noticed alot of people who worked on computers used avast but also heard avg was popular

Hi Brian,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a very knowledgable staff of techs here, and I think we will be able to give you a sampled opinion to your question.

Just for future reference, we have lots of forum topics here, and you want to find the closest match to your question when posting. I will be moving this thread to the Security/Anti Virus forum.

In regard to your question about which is better, there are a miriad of opinions. One caveat that I would bring to the table, is that Avast has a known conflict with Zone Alarm. It is something that has a work around, but it is good to know.

So we will open the forum up to comments - Which is better?

Lol , the eternal question of wich AV , firewall , anti spyware ect. is better.

There will never be a definative answere to these questions since it depends alot on user preferences since almost always comparing is done with only the leading brands , so none of them will be really "bad" anyway.
