Default [Fixed] Avast!

I've been having a problem with avast! I installed it about 20 minutes ago, and about 3-4 minutes after I startup my computer, avast! restarts it, well, I'm taking it as it's avast doing it, because the problem only started happening when I installed it.

The second time it restarted my comp, I got a blue screen, saying something like 'If this is the first time you got this error, restart your computer.

If the problem stays, uninstall any new software or hardware installed'

It didn't exactly say that, but it was something along those lines. I've uninstalled avast! now, but I kinda prefer it to any other AV, and I was wondering if anyone know's how to stop it from rebooting my computer?

Edit- I think I put this in the wrong forum. It probably should be in General Software. Sorry about that.

Did you uninstall the old AV (if you had one) first? Or did you have/had 2 or more AV's on there now?

I just had Avast!. I know it's best to only have one at a time, so I uninstalled first. The one I uninstalled was AVG, if that makes a difference.

It shouldn't be a prob if you uninstalled it first , maybe there is a virus on there thats giving problems. Can you post an hjt log? See link below in my sig.

I think i see the problem , this is not from a legit AV , this is a worm.

Boot youre PC in safemode (hit f8 when booting up)

Click Start>Run and type in: services.msc
Click OK
In the Services window find: windows virus scanner
Select/highlight and right click the entry, and choose: Properties
On the General tab, under Service Status click the Stop button
Beside: Startup Type, in the drop menu, select: Disabled
Click Apply, then OK

Open HJT and click config > misc tools > ?delete an NT service?
Copy and past: windows antivirus
Click OK.

And then fix this entry with hjt , if still present:

O23 - Service: windows virus scanner (windows antivirus) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\nav32.exe (file missing)
Reboot and try Avast! again.
