new here and from the U.K

few problems with my computer was just doing a virus scan with AVG and it has so far found 888 infected objects :sad: and has so far scaned 6569 objects..


Will let you know soon if it has sorted my problem of a little round circle with the windows flag on it and it changes to a red box with a white X in it and it says "your computer is infected"

Sounds like you have a lot of "nasties" on your computer, can you tell us what anti-virus software you are using as well as posting the log once the virusscan has finished.

If possible could you create a new post under the Anti-virus section - http://www.pchelpforum.com/anti-virus/ and post the appropriate logs in there for the security team to look at.

I was using the free norton anti virus software which came with my computer when i bought it but that ran out of date.
So i was then using the free Mcafee anti-virus software from AOL.

But iam now using the AVG software as everyone said it is very good from all the posts i have read..

Could you maybe move this post to the correct section or i will start a new post in the correct section...?


Also how long is it ment to take to do the virus scan with AVG ????

It really depends on how many files you have on your machine, it could take up to an hour.

Just be patient and leave it running, once it has finished post the log for us to see.

The virus scan has now finished and it has come up that it has deleted all the infected objects ...

But that little symbol is still in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and is still flashing the X in a red circle and it keeps poppin up with "your computer is infected"
