Default Help! Virus Alert!

Hi everyone, firstly lately i keep getting security alerts which pop up saying my computer may be infected with a blackworm virus.

And When i click ok it opens a internet security window and it then comes up with this information:

'You may be infected by 'Blackworm'! we recommend you DOWNLOAD one of these security software programs to further malware infections

The dangerous 'Blackworm' computer virus activated february 2006 and has started destroying data on computers it has reached. The lethal virus, which has infected over 1,000,000 computers in several countries, continues to spread rapidly over the internet.

( the it says )

'ATTENTION! security center has detected spyware on your P.C sending private information and documents to a remote computer. One of these processes (Win32.res.exe) has just sent this info' It says its sent about 17 meg of info or something.

Then finally it says, my current software unable to prevent this malicious spyware/virus and it then offers winantiviruspro2006 and winantispyware2006 as options.

Can anybody help with this as i have no idea what this is, and i can't afford to download the software offered to get rid of it.

Many thanks

Tim

Hi there Tim , welcome to PCHF.

No need to buy anything. And those are fake apps/warning anyway , its best to not even click on them.

Download Smitrem to your desktop

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click...click.php?id=1

Run the installer and then press Start to Extract the
files to the desktop, Do not run it yet.

Reboot into safe mode (Reboot and keep tapping F8 then
choose safe mode from the list)

Run SmitRem:

Open the SmitRem folder and double click the "RunThis.bat"
file to start the tool , Follow the prompts on
screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of the drive that you ran the batch file on, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please attach this log to your next reply , and also post an hijackthis log. See below for a link.

You will need to reload your wallpaper as the SmitRem
tool will reset it, you can do this by right clicking
desktop and choosing properties, First check Theme and
set it to Windows XP then click the Desktop tab and
choose the one you want to use and press apply.
