Default Possible Problem?

Well I had received a virus today and it was stopped by AVG. I was able to delete one file and I healed the other successfully. Im just kinda worried because now it takes FOREVER to open IE. I only use it for updating windows (I use firefox for browsing) but this is odd behavior that didnt happen until this virus/trojan. I also had my first lockup in a long time while playing counterstrike. I have run two full scans with AVG on "scan every file" setting, ran a scan with The Cleaner trojan finder, and run all my spyware programs and nothing else is found. What do you all think?

Hi and welcome on this forum

well I suggest you download a good-working firewall, wich will block any virusses/spyware using your internetspeed, this would explain the slow IE problem, it will block it (or ask you abou it) and youlle know if its a virus/spyware.

this is a very good firewall:

its freeware....

I hope this solves the problem, or helps you further, if not, please post again...

Hi there Vic , welcome to PCHF.

Lets have a look if AVG or one of the other apps missed something. Can you follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below , and post the 2 log files?

Hi guys! Here is my logs! Also, system restore has always been off for me and im already been using CCleaner. I also do have a firewall. Im using the free version of Sygate before it was bought by Symantec. I got this virus/trojan from being redirected from another site. It wanted me to download something but I didnt click OK, Cancel, or the X at the top of the box. I hit Ctrl-alt-del and killed the firefox process but I guess it was downloaded anyways

Oh and I forgot to say that I dont exactly remember what the first file was called but AVG put one file in quarantine and it was called something like Trojan.Generic.Name.NON.

I dont see anything wrong there , only it looks like you have both Spysweeper and MS anti spyware running realtime? That could cause conflict problems , its better to use only one for realtime protection and then manually scan with ohter anti spyware apps now and then.

Hmm.... Well I removed spysweeper from starting at bootup and now it opens fine... that makes NO sense. Ive had them running together for months and never had this problem. Well anyways, thanks joe!

Now about my rootkit post, the first time I ran it a couple months ago nothing was displayed after the scan and now when I scan I have whats in that log file. Are you sure its not a rootkit???

Hehe , but it works. :icon_joke Maybe the latest definitions are conflicting , or one of them has something in quarentine that the other is trying to read or block or something like that.
