Yes , you should never have multiple AV's running. But what version of Norton do you have? (also what year) If you have the security suite then that would mean you have 2 firewall's aswell right now.

I would suggest uninstlling one of them. Having 2 of them running are actually cancelling the other one out. ZA is a great firewall. Also sygate personal firewall is another one and maybe a little more friendly user.

You would have to unistall the entire suite or modify it to get rid of NIS. and it really does not expire, you just cannot get anymore updates from it. Which is bad as well.

There should be an entry in add/remove programs , or maybe an uninstaller in the startmenu or programfiles folder , but you could also try this tool:

Hey Joe - Id just finished with that file when I saw your link - thanks. Ive run it and the norton IS icon has gone from my toolbar ( bottom right) Also the file in program files is gone - Ive deleted the shortcut in the start menu and run a search for norton on my pc with no results found - i also deleted a synta(whatever) the people who make norton folder. Since Norton was never on any of my program lists Im wondering is it possible to guarentee it has gone or to confirm it and can i check to see if my new AV and FW isnt being cancelled out by norton (if its still there) like merlin said it could???

Sorry Veeeeeeeeery long post

You can do a search for Symantec or Norton. And if the search comes up pretty clean its gone. There might be some left over files in there. But you can safley delete them.
