Hey PJ,
Grisoft is starting to irk me. They are so wrapped up in being special they have disconnected themselves from access to customer service and technical support.

Can you PM me with your registration code so I can get in and talk to a tech for you. I have a feeling this is going to require a maual deletion if you are ever going to move forward.

Thanks,

TTFN

LGW

Hi LGW:
I too, am denied access to customer service and technical support since I don"t have the "Pay" AVG installed, and actually never did. How do I perform a "manual"?" Should the latter be some procedure which requires someone with some indepth knowledge of computers, just forget, however, I appreciate your time and efforts, since being unable to unnstall it (Free AVG). does not appear to be a probem with my other endeavors with the computer. Thanks again, PJ

Hi LGW: For what it's worth, I'll pass on the following: Since I was not able to get any positive results in "Uninstalling, or Installing" (only could download), the Free AVG version using the information provided by AVG Free Forum (Radical and complete new install, step by step inmstruction), I used the following procedure to get it uninstalled in order to install the download I had previously download, but was unable to install because of my inability to uninstall the Free AVG I already had intsalled....Procedure: Clicked on Start; clicked on Run; typed "Regedit" in the Run Window; this brought up the "Registry Editor;" went into the "HKEY-Classes-Root;" from there went into each sub-file and deleted everything I could find that had anything to do with "AVG/Grisoft." After deleting, at least 125 listings of "AVG/Grisoft," (and going over it another time to make sure I had them all deleted). After I was sure I had them all deleted, I went to the Add/Remove file, and sure enough, it was no longer indicated to be installed in my computer. I subsequesntly went to the file I last downloaded the latest version of the Free AVG, clicked on that file to "Run," and the install went as any other installation, and then found that it was in fact in the Add/Remove file. Suppose this problem could have resulted from running the "PC Relocator" in transferring various programs from an older Gateway 333 MHz to a newer Dell 8200 which I had been given. AnYway, the problem seems to have been corrected. However, I just wanted to say, I appreciate your attempt to help me out, Best wishes for the Holidays, PJ

I would be careful whith transfering all those files to your new pc. There are going to be driver conflicts and other conflicts with programs. I would suggest a complete install of the OS. Otherwise in the long run there are going to be alot of BSOD's

 Hey PJ, glad you were able to get that installed. Just for future refference, it is really important to back up your registry before doing any work with Regedit. However, that is what I meant by a manual uninstall.

Pay close heed to Tux's comments tho, it is always better to do a fresh install of your OS in these kinds of situations.

You have a lovely holiday season as well, PJ, look forward to seeing you in the forums.
