Default Bitdefender or PC cillin?

hello,
I just wanted some opinions on what would be an anti virus software for a person that plays mostly games and casual sometimes web surfing

I DO NOT want my system resources to be taken up by the AV and so what would you recommend be a good AV that doesnt take up too much resources and offers a good update and protection against viruses etc.

Right now my options are:
Bit defender 9
PC cillin 2006
Kaspersky AV

if you recommend something else then do so.
thank you.

 Hi Ali,

Welcome back. Take a look at the PCHF Protecting your PC in my signature. There are three free AV programs that work very well. The trick is keeping everything updated. Since you like to game, it would probably be a good idea if you ran an online virus scanner a couple of times a month to supliment your AV, also, do not neglect your Anti-Spyware, and Firewall needs. There are suggestions in that article as well.

Kaspersky is the best of all, but it is sometimes over-protective. For example, while trying to burn a CD, it will scan each file as it prepares to burn it. Thus doubling the time it takes to burn a CD. You can temporarily disable it to solve that problem, but don't forget to turn it back on. I could relay a few stories where Kasperky operated admirably while other AV programs were worthless. I've never tested it with online gaming, but they do have a 30-day trial version, so you could try it out. I highly recommend Kaspersky.

If you just do casual surfing and e-mailing, why pay at all? Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does the job very well for free . You will also need a firewall, and for that I recommend ZoneAlarm Personal, a free firewall solution .
