Anti-Virus - Scanning recieved files with AVG before opening them posted in the Security & Safety forums; If anyone could tell me how i would scan files I have recieved through msn messenger with AVG before I open them it would be greatly appreciated...

Default Scanning recieved files with AVG before opening them

If anyone could tell me how i would scan files I have recieved through msn messenger with AVG before I open them it would be greatly appreciated

If you save them locally, you can right click on the file and select "Scan with AVG".

I don't use MSN but I assume when you receive a file it goes into an MSN downloads directory or folder?

The is a setting within MSN messenger and you can set it to scan incoming files using a program of your choice.

See screenshot below:

Tools - Options then File transfer



You can then Browse to the program you want to use to scan msn, in this AVG. You should be able to use the link below.

"C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgw.exe" /SE %1
