Default Keeping Norton from being turned off by virus

In my past experiences, I have had problems with Norton AntiVirus/Firewall being turned off by viruses. A simple solution to that is to lock your program settings with a password so virus's cannot disable it. Go to the Norton AntiVirus options and go to Micellaneous. Then check "Enable password protection for options". It will then prompt you to enter a password. Enter a password between 8 and 25 characters and press enter. Now your options are protected with a password. Repeat for each Symantec Norton product used. These instructions may vary depending on the version, but it should be about the same. Also the same for Norton Internet Security.

Update for Vista users.

Per NAV 2007 > Symantec Help Center > Search keyword " password ".
Topic > Resetting the options password. At the bottom of the Topic it reads...
"Password protection for Options settings is not available in Windows Vista."

That's cool I didn't know you could do that, I don't use NAV personally but I know a few people that do and it'll be useful :-)

Does norton have any protection against killing the process/ending the service?

I was looking around and found what Spaceman had wrote. I thought that it was a good idea. Since I have NAV 2007 (for Vista), I tried to implement what he wrote. You read what I found. Beyond that I have not investigated.

Question ... Why do you use norton 360?
Infact, why use any norton product, its the biggest rubbish ever made, and even worse; you have to pay for it
