Everyone is entitled to their own opinions guys. Personally, I have much faith in AVG Anti Virus Free.

But, I have no qualms about Norton's Enterprise Edition. They make a good product for the Business Sector

ok.. truth be told, the "latest" versions of norton "aren't that bad"

the main complaint used to be it bogs down your computer - makes it take longer to start, runs slower when you're using it, takes longer to shut down

but.. they've addressed those issues because of a lot of negative publicity

now, i'd say the main reason for avoiding the "main line" a/v products is because... they're mainline!

all the bad guys out there, hackers, virus writers, rogue software guys (sorry - am i being redundant?) know their target is going to be a windows box running norton, mcafee, kaspersky, trend, ... etc

and (here's the kicker!) they tune their viruses/trojans/backdoors/etc for just those a/v products - they can't be effective against 100% of the defenses out there, so.. what do YOU think they're gonna do? of course! they focus on the biggest baddest threats to their functioning - the mainline a/v products!

so, if you stay out of that "realm" so to speak, you improve your odds that much better

i tell my clients... there are pay a/v products, and there are free a/v products - the pay ones aren't perfect, and the free ones aren't perfect - so why pay??

in the end, if you're happy with a "cookie punch" approach to protecting your computer, its my opinion that you're gonna get "cookie punch" results

This is definitely true for all of the "Big 3" major retailers for AV software. At least where Home Users are concerned.

What it comes down to is thhe Scanning Engine in the software, what it picks up. Personally, I believe the Scanning Engine in Kaspersky's software is the best.

Additionally, 99% of end users go to the same 15 or 20 websites. So either they are picking it up from there, or in a random attack.

So, it's basically as simple, as keeping yourself updated, and having a good protection schema against Viruses, Spyware, Adware, Trojans, etc.

Plus, an easy thing to do, watch where you go on the internet.

We're getting a bit off topic here so, I think I'll leave it at that
