Default [Answered] Help with Norton Antivirus 2005

I hope someone can help me. It's really a silly question but I just want to be sure. I have Windows 98 and I recently bought Norton. My computer has 2 hard drives (labeled C and D drive) and I installed Norton on the C. The only problem is that I forgot this is the one that is almost full to capacity. I ran for a full scan and while it was doing that it hekp telling me to do cleanup coz it needed room. Now my question is....should I just try to clean out the C drive so that it can scan or is it possible to uninstall and reinstall onto the D drive? The reason I am weary about it is because of the product code. Will it still work if I uninstall since I used it already and would it be ok? Please someone help!!

Welcome to PCHF Trinity5098

We can start with the basics if you like...

Do the following: double-click on "My Computer" > right click on the C drive and select properties > hit the "Disk cleanup" button and let it do its thing. I would be interested to know how much you clean by doing that.

Also, clean your temp internet files by opeing Internet Explorer > tools > internet options > General tab > delete cookies & delete files (all offline files too).

Thanks for answering back!? I am actually not at the computer with the problem.? I am at work right now but I know the first time I did it last night it said something like 24.something but then it asked me to do it like 2 more times and the numbers went down. I also cleaned out the temp files and all that.

One more quick question...the reason I bought the Antivirus was because I was not able to go to certain websites like the radio station and things like that.? A friend had mentioned a virus that "eats" the letters as you type them into the address box, is that correct?? And if so, will the Antivirus help with this problem?

I haven't personally heard of a virus that "eats the words as you type" but I am happy to be corrected by someone.

I wouldn't buy anti-virus either - AVG: AVG Website is a great FREE anti-virus product. I have used it for at least 4 years and it has never let me down.

As for the cleaning up the hard drive - if you have another drive on your PC why not move all the "non-program" software such as images, music, documents etc to the other drive. This will free up quite a bit of extra space on your C drive

I wish I had known about this website before I bought it...could have saved some money ? Does the program you mention also get rid of viruses? Norton gets rid of them, right? Anyway, thanks for your help and I will try deleting and moving some stuff over to the other hard drive.? Hopefully, it will let Norton do its thing.? I'll let you know ? Thanks again!!

AVG removes viruses + let's you know as soon as they are trying to get onto your PC either by the Internet or Email.

If you suspect that something other than a virus has infiltrated your PC then visit our Spyware & Adware section.

Happy to help?
