Ahhhh --- why can't computers be simple hey.

So I take it that Mcafee is currently not installed on the machine.(if this is true then try the following if you haven't already)
Try disable your Windows Firewall and then Install Mcafee firewall back onto the machine.
Make sure that IE is your default web browser.
Another thing before you install Mcafee Firewall is to check that there are no remaining files from the last installation. Not too sure which directory it installs to but check "c:\program files\mcafee\" and if there is anything for the firewall then delete it. It might also be an idea to make sure there is nothing in the RUN section of your registry just in case.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURR ENTVERSION\RUN

I have heard that a program called Mailwasher is very good for spam related stuff.

My experience with McAffee products has been "patchy" to say the least. Still, they do produce some great software, although if it isn't working for you, may be time to consider an alternative.

Have you had any luck with the "live" chat with McAffee ?
