Indeed Avira AntiVir is one of the best anti-viruses our there. I'd say better than most of the paid ones even.

It's got my recommendation.

I've been using it for about three years now on multiple machines and no complaints whatsoever.

I find it is highly configurable for a free version and has a footprint far smaller than Norton and such.

Some complain about the nag screen that attempts to get you to buy the pro version but that's actually very easy to turn off using a software restriction policy.

I've also not run across any problems in so far as conflict with other software goes which I can't say about a number of the other options.

I have an XP and a vista on my computer. I use on my XP the "Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009" and on my Vista the "Avira AntiVir Personal". Tonight I installed some programs on the XP then went onto the Vista and saw Avira reports that there is a "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen". The Avira is the Best.
I send a big thanks for the Avira company.

Yeah avira is really good. just got it a couple of days ago. before i installed it norton reported there was nothing bad on my computer. avira found two viruses. thanks avira. hopefully you keep making a free version.

Yes, I really prefer to use Avira because its all that we need..I am using it for a year and its quiet very good!
