When my PC tries to Boot up it automatically switches OFF and ON the power supply. Is this a software or a hardware problem? I have tried everything I can but there seems no way round it. Any ideas?

Hello Spike, welcome to PCHF!
We have a well trained tech staff here and a very knowledgeable member community so I am sure we will find some answers for you ![]() Can I just confirm what you are saying - when you boot up your computer (if you could tell us how far it gets in to loading) it then switches itself off and then back on again? If that is correct, does your PC ever fully load or does it go in a cycle of restarting? Have you recently added any new hardware? Regards, Smokeycheech

Hi Smokeycheech, thanks for replying.
The PC Boots up as far as the Microsoft Logo and timing indicator then switches off and on again offering me the various modes of boot up. Doesnt matter which one I select the cycle just repeats itself. I havent fitted any new hardware and there is no sign of overheating as this happens even if the pc has been switched of for days. Regards Spike |

Hello Spike, can you please post the temperature of the PC, as you are unable to log onto windows you can check the temps in the BIOS. Also, does it keep restarting once it is in the BIOS?

You may need to get a new battery for your PC. I had the same problem with my old one, a new battery, and flashing the BIOS worked quite well. You may want to try to "Release the flea power" too. Unplug everything on the computer, including the power cord, and push and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then plug everything back in and try to boot it up. It has never worked for me, but it's what all the "experts" say to try.
