It could be a few things, but if it powers up and stays powered the first thing I would check is the video card. Do you have a spare video card, or does your computer have on-board video that you can connect the monitor to? Also, have you tried hooking up your monitor to a different computer to make sure that it's not the monitor that's gone bad?

I really don't know what i'm doing on this sight........ Info overload........ I just wanted ther to be a box where I could write down the problem I have and hope that a helpful person somewher else on this planet may or may not have an idea hoe to solve the problem.
The whole layout looks like a social networking site.......... wher I'm typing now was the last line of the last page I tried and even now something tells me I'm doing this incorrectly!! I just want some HeLP! ADVENT 4213 Mechanical failure of 'power on' slide switch (Front base, left-hand side) External toggle has broken contact with switch on circuit board. I can start this fully functioning Advent 4213 by opening shell and pushing sprung switch with a needle. Opening the shell each time to start is not very practical. Any suggestions?? |

Hi Tim, I'm not sure where to get parts for that laptop, but you may be able to ask a local computer repair shop if they know. The only thing I can think of to make things easier for now is to take the outer cover of the switch off since it's not connect to the switch any longer anyway and that should leave you an open slot to use your needle through to turn it on with until you find a replacement. Be careful though if you decide to do that so you don't break the connectors that hold the switch to the shell if there are any.

@xeno
thanks for quick reply. 1. monitor is working fine. i am using it now to type this message. 2. tried different power supply, connected everything except hard drive and still nothing. 3. it could be the graphs card, that was my next step. i dont have another card to test with and no onboard gtaphs. |

Do you have a friend that might have an extra one? They're rather expensive to buy and have it not be the problem. Check and make sure the graphics card is seated properly also.
