Default MY Usb is tempremental

My usb has a mind of its own one day its ok then next day turn it on and i cant move anything onto or from my mobile or my son's n5 card for his DS when i try and move anything i get these error messages --- the specified I/O operation on device\hardisk\ was not completed before time out expired

but the one i get the most is Cannot copy cannot find specified file make surre you specify the correct path and file name . But i only drag and drop so that makes no sense i've uninstalled drivers and installed again i've restored my comp back to a week b4 and when i get these messages when i go back into device it shows no files at all it's driving me nuts i've even uninstalled my phone drivers to but no then i could turn it on a day or 2 later without doing anything it works fine i am on xp

Hello

The issue you have may be connected to something WinXP does when too many drives are present at the same time.

If you have many drives connected to your system e.g. 1 HDD with 3 partitions, 2 CD/DVDs, 2 USB drives, the next drive connected will be recognized as connected, but won't show in explorer.

See if that is the case with your system.
