hello people, had a few problems i posted in another thread regarding my power supply blowing, this has now been resolved and the supply/graphics card have been replaced (and i think possibly the bios chip) and all seems well . . . apart from my keyboard and mouse . . .

was working fine before i had the problems, now after installing the software several times i get nothing, tried the set button on the usb sender/dongle, holding the reset keys down on the mouse/keyboard at the same time/ different times, googled the problem and found a forum that said hold a key down and the mouse button down next to the dongle . . . no joy . . .

i dont get the windows sound when i plug it in or take it out and i'm sure it used to flash (the dongle) when you pressed the set button down and it doesn't do that now . . . . .

anyone got any ideas or had the same problem??? would appreciate any suggestions to try !

Hello trafford,and welcome back.. Your problem could be a result of a power surge going through these 2 ports, caused by your PSU blowing out. I have an older computer PSU blew a capacitor,it caused a power surge, now all it does so far is just reboot. When a PSU blows,the surge that follows just follows the path of least resistance and sometimes you don't have any problems....

so are you saying somethings still damaged with the pc? or could be?
be interested to know if there's any way of testing the motherboard for faults but when i look in the system devices it doesn't show any problems with anything and if i plug/unplug other devices into the usb's i get the system noise/recognition.

Yes,it does sorry to say,i am sure you mobo could be tested or the ports or what have you. This is when the Computer shop comes into play they have the equipment to run these kinda of test...So you don't see any burnt arch signs,or goo from a melted part or anything? Does it have that electrical burnt smell?
