Hello,
Don't know if this is the right place but here goes.
Got a Dell Inspiron 9100 about 6 years old.
A few months ago, the screen became what can only be descibed as pixellated. You could sort of make out what was where on the screen but there was no way you could actually read it. Anyway, basically left it until the other day. I was told it might be a graphics card problem so was looking on e-bay for a new one. To make sure I got the proper card, i turned the laptop on again to see if it was legible and the pixellation wasn't too bad. I did a system restore but got the message it couldn't do it. However, after a short while, it went completely clear and worked fine. Happy days I thought. Maybe one of the kids had spilt something on it originally and now it had dried out and rectified itself. I used to likeplaying a bit of online poker so tried to log in to PKR.com and it had to download loads of updates but then said the graphics card needed a 3D Driver or something. Then I got too clever for my own good. Went on the Dell website and found a driver update for the graphics card. Had to download Microsoft .NET Framework or whatever it is then downloaded the driver update. Was still OK for a bit but then disaster struck. Clicked on the PKR.com icon again, started OK but the screen then went back to being masively pixellated. Have managed to see enough to unistall the poker app and put the original Dell driver CD back in but no joy. Sorry for being so long winded but i thought the more info the better. Basically, is it retrievable or should i give up? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Forgot to mention. The graphics card is an ATI Mobility Redeon 9700. Just in case that is the problem with it
