I was just on my desktop when suddenly, all goes black. I pressed the restart button but nothing comes up, my screen is completely black and the green light on the monitor just flashes on and off. I tried another monitor but it just goes straight into power saving mode and nothing shows, on top of that my computer then does one short beep after about 10 or so seconds. Any help would be appreciated.

Do the fans and the hard drive spin up or atleast attempt to....
It's possible that your PSU has become faulty, can you swap it with another to test. |

Hi Icarus77,
One beep generally means DRAM refresh failure. It can be caused by either faulty ram or a faulty motherboard. Try removing the ram and reseating it. If you have more than one stick try each one individually to test which may be faulty. If you get the problem with all the ram sticks then it's most likely your motherboard. You can either try different ram or try putting your ram in another pc. If the new ram doesn't work in your pc then the motherboard that needs to be replaced. If your old ram doesn't work in another pc then it's the problem. |
