hi everyone, i have had a asus p5n-e mobo for around a year now, i have had this problem for around 6 months but not bothered about it until now but here goes.
i bought a asus p5n-e around a year ago it came with a single core cpu which worked fine, i then updated to a pentium 4 650 HT cpu, since then i have had this message on boot up " new cpu deteced a bios update may be needed to unlock potential" so i took the follow actions :
. update bios to the newest flash update
. tried removeing the bios battery and the changing the jumper from 1 - 2 waiting a few mins and putting it back to 1 and replacing the battery to clear the bios
i have no idea what the problem is i have been told that i may have to set the voltage or something to the correct cpu settings.. i have looked and cannot see a problem maybe i am missing something or is there another solution
please help !!!!!!
thanks for looking

Hi
I had the p5n32 sli premium for a year and a half, and now is on the system for the rest of the family (when they're not on the Notebooks, that is...). I found it to have a few issues with the old nforce chipset, but for some reason the cursed thing works find for the family up to 2 years now... The update for the BIOS is really to enable certain features on the CPU, like the old microcode patch error on some Intel mainboards. If I remember correctly, you have to "unlock" or something similar the BIOS so it can be updated (is sort off locked to prevent viruses from messing up with it). The Pentium 4 650 HT is also single core, and if you enable the default BIOS settings for it, you won't have any problems, as Non-Tampered is the default mode. (You CAN overclock it, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to..)
