First off, specs:
Dell Dimension 2400
Windows XP Pro SP3
1.25 GB RAM
2.8GHz Pentium 4 Processor
Basically, when I get to the login screen and go to type in my password, the keyboard doesn't work. Now this is a wireless keyboard, so I changed the batteries, and still nothing. I used an old PS/2 keyboard, which didn't do much different. This all started when I came home from my brother's house and saw the internet wasn't working (wireless) so I tried reconnecting several times and it didn't work. I restarted the computer, and it "thought" I was a new user and gave me a bunch of random icons on my desktop from programs I had installed previously. I restarted several times (cause when I do this I usually get my wallpaper and icons back) but it didn't work. So I tried a System Restore, and when I tried to login my keyboard wouldn't function, only the "Function" key would work, which enables the F1-12 keys etc. I restarted several times and nothing really changed. I then tried safe mode, and the keyboard worked briefly, but before I could type in my password, the computer restarted itself. Anything that doesn't involve reformatting to fix this would be helpful, thank you!

If I don't get a response, I'll try to do a repair install.

So, could I maybe get a little help with this before I return home from my brother's house?

Are you running this setup with a wireless mouse also?

No, the mouse is wired. But I did change the batteries in the keyboard, and try a corded one with no avail.

Maybe I should start using the reply button, not sure if it does any extra. But since I am leaving my brother's house soon, in an hour, I will probably try a repair installation first
