Default USB Ports appear to be dead

Can't use mouse or wireless aircard in either USB slot. How can I check this in Vista, HP laptop?

Also, no longer can use WIFI. It just went away? How can I turn this back on as well?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Peter and welcome to PCHF,

You can try a system restore to see if that works.

Using Windows 7 or Vista System Restore :: the How-To Geek

Hello and welcome

HP Notebook? What model AND Part Number? (P/N is on the sticker underneath the notebook)

How to check:Control Panel>System>Device Manager>Right-Click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers and start clicking on the USB Hubs one by one, checking the power.

If the ports are functional and a devive is connected, there should be a value. (check on the attachment, from my system -and showing off tooo...)
