Default help! pc won't boot! no beeps! no display!

hi

here are my specs:

gigabyte ma770-ud3
amd athlon 6000+
geforce 8800 gts
corsair 520w
2 GB ddr kingston
hdd - 320+160 gb wd

two days ago i turned on my pc, nothing happened. no power. checked the psu separately and it worked. eventually i figured out it was the motherboard and replaced it (with the one above).

now when i push the power button everything powers on, fans spinning, front panel and mobo lights work but there's no beep and no display.
there are no loose cables and everything is in place.

reset and power button don't do anything after the initial power up so the only way to turn the pc off is to turn of the psu. also, the keyboard has no lights.

tried taking out the memory sticks and putting them in one by one. tried a diffetrent psu, reset cmos battery and jumper, nothing...

can't check the graphics card and cpu since i don't have another pc or spare parts (only at a store)

any suggestions?

Try using onboard graphics if possible. To do that simply take out the graphics card and put the VGA cable in the onboard VGA port, if you have one.

Try using only one hard drive, one stick of RAM and NO CD drive. Basically as little hardware as possible.

Check the motherboard manual to see if there are any jumper settings that need to be configured. For example KB_PWR is needed to provide power to the keyboard.

Verify all jumper settings and set correctly.

Try the monitor on another computer if possible.

See this on page 43 & 44 of the manual:

Init Display First
Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI graphics card or PCI
Express graphics card.
>>PCI Slot Sets the PCI graphics card as the first display. (Default)
>>PEG Sets the PCI Express graphics card as the first display.

Although most PC's do auto-detect whether the graphics card is PCI or PCI-E.

And also this is very important regarding RAM:

If the RAM you are using is not specifically mentioned in the manual as compatible with the board then you need to buy RAM from a vendor listed in the manual.

If using compatible RAM and/or a PCI graphics card doesn't work then the board is bad and should be returned.
