after power outage several keys on keyboard won't work. tried different board but it didn't work at all. bought new board but can't type password to access account to install software from the disk. am typing on on-screen keyboard from "guest account". i put disk in but no dialog box shows up to install software. do i need to be in admin account to install? how to get in? other suggestions? thanks.

Hello Iamenigma_52,check your device manager and see what it is saying.

no yellow ? marks. properties says it's operating correctly.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for your keyboard?


Edit...Also you say you are typing from a quest account,may i ask why?

can't type password because some of the characters that i need to type are not working. i need no password in guest account. i am typing on an on=screen keyboard. haven't tried reinstalling drivers. could power outage cause drivers to need reinstalling? could it not have screwed the keyboard up? ??

guest account doesn't have admin priveleges.

The outages causes power surges which are not good for computers....It could have affected the software...

Edit: Let's certainly hope it is not a hardware problem..
