Sorry I'm confused with this forum But,

I just got a new comp and I don't know how to hook it up to wireless.
But can I just put an ethernet cord from the router into the comp and it will find the net?

or do I need something else?

Hello Gremlin

Welcome to PC Help Forum

Ok a few questions, is your new computer a desktop or a laptop, if it's a laptop does it have wireless capability, if it's new it should have?

What kind of router do you have?

Is it a stand alone router or router/modem combination?

It's a desktop.

I have the Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router by Linksys.

I don't think its a router modem combo.

Gremlin

With regard to any aspect of confusion with regard to navigating PCHF or how to post, read this please.

http://www.pchelpforum.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_faq

With regard to your issue we need to ask if you want to go with wireless on the desktop and if you do, do you have a network wireless card in the machine.

To me it's better to hardwire the desktop to the router, obviously via a modem to achieve a better connection.

What modem do you have and can you give us the exact model number of the Linksys router please.

Hi Gremlin

Have you resolved this issue or do you require further assistance?

An update would most appreciated.

Thank you.
