Default Ipod touch help!!!

Hello
i wanted to take music from my ipod touch onto my computer, so i read an article and it said i had to open itunes whilst hold shift+ctrl which i did, i then had a message saying itunes will open in safe mode, or something along those lines, the itunes window then appeared and it recognised the ipod touch was connected to my computer but did not sync with the ipod i then closed itunes, in the article it said that when you open My Computer the ipod touch would be their and you could do stuff but when i opened My Computer their was no sign of an ipod touch except under the heading of scanners and cameras but when i open that all i get are the pictures that are on my ipod and not any audio files, please help.

This is the link to the article i was referring to.

Try this:

1. Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
2. In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
3. In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
4. Navigate to the Music folder. On my 2nd gen 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\GINA'S IPOD (F\iPod_Control\Music
5. Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.

Sourced from Lifehacker. this does work as I have tried it...

I have an ipod touch and it doesn't seem that this walk through applies to this type of ipod touch but their was another article on how to do it (Copy Music from Your iPhone or iPod to Your Computer for Free - Feature - Lifehacker) but this requires my ipod touch to be jailbroken and i don't want to take that risk, please tell me if i have been stupid and not read the article correctly and if not, thanks for the help.

An iPod Touch and or iPod Nano, is nothing more than a removable hard drive with smarts.

As I said I can add or remove files for my iPod Nano, so I do not see why you can not do the same thing if you tried the method I suggested.

Jailbreaking is only for using suspect software on the iPod Touch or iPhone...

Unfortunately i have found out that the ipod touch, along with the iphone doesnt work in the same way as the other ipods as it is not recognized as a removable hard drive when connected to a computer, but i did find a way and it was by going on this website--http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/--I am just using the free trial which seems to work, thanks for everyone's help.
