Angry something went very wrong.. new cpu cooler.

hi!
i need some help, installed a new cooler (noctua c12p)
did it all right but when i start my pc and check the tempereture its 40c!
i'm supose to have somthing like 18c.
for the silver thingy you have betwen cpu and cooler i used arctic silver 5.

at idle i have 38-40 at load i get 48-61 61 at the very most.
i did a test in orthos to see how hot it culd get.

right now i have overclocked but there is no diffrense in tempereture.
333x9 3ghz

i have 4 fans in my case one were the hdd is in the front on blowing in one in the side also blowing in one in the back sucking out and one on the top very big one 200mm or so.. blowing in.. its blowing directly on the cooler
it culd be that.. i'm gonna change it so that it blows hot air out and see if that changes anything.

system spec:
cpu: intel e4300-1.8ghz kan overclock to 3-3.3ghz
motherboard: gigabyte 965p-ds3 v.1.1 f12
ram: corsair xms 5400c4 i think.. 2gb thinking about 4gb more
graphics card: xfx 9800gtx+ oc not overclocked at the moment for cpu overclocking purposes..
hdd: western digital 500gb
power supply: corsair vx550w
os: windows vista 32bit ultimate

ps. my brother got xigmatec s1983 i think.. and he gets 30c at the most and it whas a lot cheaper than mine so i'm crying my *** of in side!

sorry if i misspelled enything.

Hello Laith, Welcome back to the forum!

I must say I have the same heatsink and fan and my processor temps are around 40c at idle.

I'm not sure if we both have an issue or if thats ok, I'm thinking its ok although you do seem to have more cooling power than me.

Did you check your temps with Speedfan? If so, were there any pictures of flames next to your temps?

If you did and there were no flames, I think you have nothing to worry about

If you did not use speedfan and you want to, there is a link for it in my signature.

I have marked this as open so someone far more experienced than I can assist you -I will be keeping an eye on this thread!

thanks.

i whas looking at a review and the guy had at load 39 and at idle 18
so i got very worried.
it culd be that he uses another fan for it since ours is made to be quiet.

heres the link te the review:

40C sounds pretty warm to me for a machine that's simply idling.

For example I have an Intel Q9550 CPU (stock 2.83Ghz) OC'd to 3.4Ghz and at idle I'm getting 25C in a warm room.

I'm using five 120mm fans in total with one sucking in from the front of the case over the HDD, 1 sucking in from the side of the case cover blowing on the graphics card/motherboard, the one blowing through the OCZ Vendetta 2 HSF unit I"m using for cooling, one in line with the HSF on the back of the case drawing out, and one sucking from the case through the PSU and out the back.

None of my fans rev more than 1200rpm as I like my peace and quiet.

Previously I was using the Xigmatek mentioned with fairly similar results though the OCZ unit is clearly a bit better.

If I were to try anything on that setup you have I would see what happens when the large fan in the top is turned around.

It's just possible that it's size is messing up the airflow of the others.

For what it's worth I also use that 9800GTX+ graphics card but due to my love of quiet I never used the stock cooling solution but rather fitted an Accelero S1 Rev.2 Heatpipe VGA cooler to it from the start.

Arctos agrees: Thanks for the heat pipe cooler info LW...

This looks interesting LW, I have a nVidia 8600 with a very noisy fan. I will try and source one of these here.

Here's the link to the heatpipe for those want to have a look...

Arctos I might add that if the need arose and I required better cooling of the Graphics card Accelero also has dual turbo fans that can be added to the setup but in my case since I don't game or push it too hard the airflow it gets from the fan on the side of my case is more than sufficient.

Believe it or not even though my PC has a total of five 120mm fans running in various places throughout, the end result is that I can hardly hear the unit which of course was my goal.

The OCZ Vendetta 2 comes with great quality quiet fans, my PSU is a Zalman 600HP unit which also relies on heatpipe technology to deal with the heat and only ramps up the fan when necessary which in my case seems to be never and for the three case fans I'm using a mix of the Coolermaster Case supplied Coolermaster fans and I found the GELID Silent 12 a great economical quiet fan and use it as well. NCIX.com - Buy GELID Solutions GELID Silent 12 1000RPM 120MM Quiet Fan 37CFM 20.2DBA HDB 3PIN - FN-SX12-10 In Canada.

I was thinking of fixing the graphics card with that heat pipe setup, then build a junker from all the bits and pieces I have laying around.

Plenty of disadvantaged kids organizations around in Oz, that would like a reasonable computer donated to them...
