Hi,
since I reinstalled my computer I know I must have made a mistake : when I try to use simple signs like @ : or * they turn out to be under completely different keys.
I must have answered some question wrongly while installing and I donīt know how to correct it.
Who recognizes this and tells me how to correct it ?
this question mark was achieved by pressing the shift and minus key together, my keyboard has 104 keys and a standard 101-102 keyboard is installed presently.

Normally this means you have set your region to somewhere different.
For example, in the UK we have keyboards where the @ and " symbols are in different places. You can change your 'Regional Settings' by doing the following: Click Start > Control Panel > (Switch To Classic View) > Regional & Language Options Languages Tab > Details... Choose US and then remove whichever other one you have selected. |

Hi Amtech, alas I have checked my regional settings and they are OK I think. Netherlands, dutch, all as they should be. So it is not the solution. Thanks all the same.
Hi Arctos, your suggestion is, alas, for Vista users, or so it seems. But my system is XP, I cannot find a language bar. But thanks for trying anyway. Bye Henk |

Hi Arctos and Amtech. You're right ! You're right. What went wrong the first time was that I didn't remove the wrong languages but tried to just click the right one, which is not good enough. Now everything woks the way it did before reinstalling. Thanks to both of you, again. I'd be happy to return the favour if I only knew on what terrain. Bye.
