Question (help) post takes forever> =s

hey guys havnt been on for a while good to be back actually and i have a problem i cant seem to figure out i built a new pc and it works just fine i just got rid of a annoying virus but that has nothign to do with this now after i finish building the pc i turn it on the POST ( like checking ram and hard drives at startup) takes forever to load also NVRAM takes its time as well all up till i can log in it usually takes about 5 mins... i mean it isnt a big problem but i would to be able to boot up abit fast as one of my old pc's only takes like 1 min to boot... but ywah eny ways heres my specs of my hardware on this pc thanks.

Motherboard: ECS p4m800 -m7
GPU: ATI radeon HD 3650
CPU: Intel Pentium D 840 3.2ghz LGA 775 2mb Cache
HardDrive: Seagte 40gb(Master).... Seagate 80gb(slave)... Seagate 17gb(slave)
PCI cards. (cant remember what it called but) PCI - IDE connectors (extra connectors)
DiskDrive: DVD-R 16x

Hello marneros.

I would suggest looking around in the BIOS and make sure all the settings are optimized for speed.

It may vary by manufacturer but there should be something along the lines of "fast boot" which skips some of those potentially time consuming checks at boot up.

You might also play around and see if there isn't some USB device attached that is bogging down the works.

I have one PC that takes about five minutes to boot when a certain printer is attached and with the printer disconnected it boots like lightning.

I had another at one time that would get slowed right down due to a faulty card reader.
